13-inch Apple MacBook Air Reviewed!

13-inch Apple MacBook Air Review

13-inch Apple MacBook Air

Best laptop

Pros
  • Great battery life
  • Fast, responsive performance
  • Iconic thin, light design
  • Lower price than last year
Cons
  • Lower-res screen than rivals
  • No optical drive, Ethernet or HDMI port

    Bottom line

Amazing battery life -- yes, you can web-surf for more than 12 hours straight -- makes the 13-inch Apple MacBook Air tough to beat. It keeps everything good about the previous Air and drops the price tag. Experts can scarcely find anything to criticize, wholeheartedly recommending it over and over.

    Breaking it down

    Performance

All-day battery life. Apple says that the 13-inch Air will deliver "up to 12 hours" of Wi-Fi web surfing or movie playback, but professional reviewers regularly squeeze out even more -- nearly 16 hours in PCMag.com's trials, easily outdistancing top Windows ultraportable competitors. "While those other laptops may take you through your workday, the MacBook Air can also take you through your morning commute, your lunch hour, and your evening," Brian Westover says. The price cut helps makes the Air a good value considering its hardware lineup, including 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor (4th generation), 4 GB of memory, a 128 GB flash drive, and integrated Intel HD Graphics 5000. Upgrades are possible, but pricey, and can only be done at the time of purchase. But even in the base configuration, there's plenty of power for everyday tasks and even casual but still satisfying gaming.

    Ergonomics

Travels light, feels great. Its ergonomics are largely unchanged, but critics rave about the 13-inch MacBook Air's backlit keyboard and glass trackpad, and at about less than .7 inches thick (maximum, tapering down to just .11 inches) and less than 3 pounds, you'll barely notice it when you carry it around. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities help on the road, but you'll need a separate adapter if you want an Ethernet connection. The lack of an optical drive and HDMI port annoy some reviewers, but only mildly, while the inclusion of an SDXC memory card reader -- missing on the 11-inch MacBook Air (Est. $900 and up) -- rates a thumbs up. There's no touch screen, because Mac OS X doesn't use touch. For those who run Windows 8 on this laptop, the large, responsive trackpad makes the omission less of an issue than it might seem.

    Design

Same as it ever was. Almost every ultraportable on Earth takes its cues from the MacBook Air, which remains largely unchanged from previous versions. That leads some reviewers, such as CNET, to chide the MacBook Air's design as being "static," and missing some bells and whistles such as edge-to-edge glass and higher resolution screens. Indeed, the Air keeps its 13-inch screen at just 1,440 by 900 pixels, which is somewhat low-resolution compared to its rivals, including the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display (Est. $1,300 and up). Some competitors are slightly slimmer and lighter as well, but so slightly that Westover calls the differences "almost imperceptible." Laptop magazine finds the design to still be "svelte and elegant"

    Support and reliability

The gold standard. Year after year, Apple's rock-solid reliability leaves other laptop brands in the dust in PCMag.com's reader survey. Users say Apple products rarely break down, and if they do, the company's support staff is friendly and helpful. Tech support is just as outstanding. Laptop Magazine staffers hit Apple with anonymous questions and get great help via phone and web. Any Mac owner can bring a laptop in for free help at a Genius Bar with a reservation, but the one-year warranty includes just 90 days of phone help. Laptop's Mark Spoonauer calls the current edition of the Air "sturdy," then adds: "We've used another 13-inch Air for a few years in a row without so much as a dent or worn-down key."Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services Like this Visit our Website at  http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

Portable Chargers Reviewed!

Anker 2nd Gen Astro3

Anker 2nd Gen Astro3

Best portable charger

Pros
  • Powerful and lightweight
  • Charges three devices simultaneously
  • Standby doesn't drain battery
Cons
  • Can't use while recharging
  • Takes about 10 hours to recharge

    Bottom line

Anker's 2nd Gen Astro3 is the successor to its wildly popular Astro3E. It boasts more power (12,000 mAh as opposed to the 3E's 10,000) and powers up to three devices at once.

    Design

Smart port; smart design. Anker's 2nd Gen Astro3 offers a wallop of power (12,000 mAh battery) in a small package. Astro3 isn't the lightest, smallest or trendiest on the market -- it comes in black or white, weighs less than a pound and is about the size of a dense smartphone -- but reviewers rave about its triple-port design, including a smart port that can identify your devices and ensures they're charging at full speed. (For example, Apple and Android devices tend to require different levels of power.) Three devices can be charged at once. The battery includes a 10-point LED indicator, which gives more detail on the battery's status than competitors' indicators that use colors or fewer lights. Instead of an on/off button, the Astro3 can be shaken awake. It also includes a micro USB cable.

    Performance

Charges tablets and phones, with room to spare. The Anker Astro3 is powerful enough to charge multiple devices at once. All three of its ports are compatible with a plethora of Apple and Android devices. PhoneArena.com reports that the Astro3 gave six full charges to an iPhone 5s and four charges to other smartphones in its tests. One Amazon.com user found it could fully charge an iPad 2 and still have some power left; a travel blogger reports it could simultaneously charge an iPad, Android tablet and iPhone. Gizmag.com notes that the maximum charge on the universal ports (1.5 Amp) is designed for Androids, so iPhone users seeking the fastest charge should use the smart port. The Astro3 can't be used while it's being recharged, however, and its battery takes about 10 hours to fill up.Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services like this Visit our Website at  http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

Crest 3D White Whitestrips Advanced Vivid

Crest 3D White Whitestrips Advanced Vivid

Best over-the-counter teeth whitening system

Pros
  • Fast results
  • Stays in place
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • May cause tooth sensitivity
  • Can be difficult to remove

    Bottom line

Crest 3D White Whitestrips Advanced Vivid are a Best Reviewed selection because they produce fast results and are easy to use. They adhere well to teeth but can be a bit tricky to remove. Like all teeth whiteners, Crest Whitestrips can cause sensitivity in teeth. If this is a concern, consider using the runner-up Go Smile: B1 Whitening System ampoules ($50) . They are more expensive, but are said to be better tolerated by those with sensitive teeth.

    Performance

Immediate results. Clinical tests show Crest 3D White Whitestrips Advanced Vivid, formerly Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal, to be nearly as effective as professional light-assisted whitening, although results may not last as long. Users at Amazon.com and Drugstore.com are pleased with the results -- several say teeth appear brighter after just three or four applications, with more pronounced whitening at the end of treatment. One user says, "I noticed my teeth looked whiter after the first use." Another says, "My teeth aren't blinding fake white, but the strips removed all of the stains and now my teeth are a pleasing, even natural white." A tester for Woman's Day magazine says her teeth "looked immediately whiter after taking the strips off each time."

    Ease of use

Talk and sip water while you whiten. Reviewers love the convenience of Advanced Vivid Whitestrips because they can be worn while going about everyday activities. They contain extra polymers that help them better adhere to teeth, creating less saliva mess and less slippage than previous Whitestrips versions. One user at Drugstore.com says, "They stayed in place, even after a drink of water." Reviewers say the strips go on easy but that they stick so well they can be tricky to remove. Several users suggest that peeling them off from the back of teeth is a bit easier.

    Safety

May cause tooth sensitivity. Crest 3D Advanced Vivid Whitestrips contain a 9.5 percent hydrogen peroxide solution, which has been approved by the FDA for over-the-counter teeth bleaching. Like all teeth whiteners, however, they can cause tooth sensitivity. These issues generally subside when whitening treatments are discontinued.
One user at Drugstore.com says it helps to use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth for a week before starting treatments. She also recommends taking an ibuprofen one hour before each treatment. For some, however, nothing seems to help except discontinuing treatment. Sensitivity issues vary greatly from one user to another. Experts recommend talking to your dentist before beginning any whitening regimen to ensure that you are a good candidate. Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services like this Visit our Website at http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

Cloud Storage Reviewed!

Dropbox Online Backup

Dropbox

Best cloud storage

Pros
  • Excellent file syncing
  • Compatible with Windows, Mac OS and Linux
  • Fast and easy to use
Cons
  • Costlier than some competitors

    Bottom line

Dropbox is a file synchronization service that has earned multiple Editors' Choice awards, and critics say it is one of the easiest backup services to use. Dropbox allows you to store files online and sync them across multiple computers, smartphones and tablets. While there's a lot of competition in this space (including Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive), many reviewers prefer Dropbox over other syncing services.

    Ease of use

Easy to use. Reviewers say Dropbox couldn't be easier to use -- you simply sign up, download the client and drag and drop files into a folder on your device. You can then access the files on linked computers, phones or tablets. You can also store the files locally instead of in the cloud, meaning you won't need an Internet connection to access them. Uploading and downloading are fast as long as you have a reliable connection. Reviewers love the robust sharing options, which include the ability to send files to others right from the Dropbox client or create read-only public folders. Invite your friends, family and teammates to any folder or file in your Dropbox (it requires them to sign up first), and it'll be as if you saved that data straight to their devices.

    Features

BlackBerry and Kindle Fire apps. Dropbox covers Windows, Mac and even Linux operating systems (a rarity among online backup services), and provides apps for iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Kindle Fire devices. Any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically update on your computers, phones and tablets. You can choose to upload only changes to your files, rather than overwriting them, which uses far less bandwidth, and there's no restriction on file sizes. Dropbox lets you edit documents, run videos or music (via your devices' players or plug-ins) and add files at the same time. You can access your files from any computer, as well as iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Android devices. Dropbox keeps earlier versions of your files for 30 days. If a month isn't enough, Dropbox's Packrat service (Est. $4 per month or $40 per year) allows you to save an unlimited number of old versions of all your files as well as any deleted files.

    Plans

2 GB -- and possibly more -- free. Dropbox provides 2 GB of online storage for free, but is one of the pricier cloud storage services. Paid subscriptions are available for 100 GB ($10 per month) for the Pro plan, or unlimited space with the Business plan ($15 per month per user for at least five users). Members on the free plan can earn additional free storage (up to 18 GB) by referring their friends. Google Drive offers more free storage (15 GB) at lower subscription prices ($2 per month for 100 GB), but many experts say Dropbox is still a better choice because of its competitive features, seamless integration and support for Linux PCs and BlackBerry smartphones (Google Drive supports neither). Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services like this Visit our Website at http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

Smartwatches Reviewed!

Sony Smart Watch 2

Sony Smart Watch 2

Best smartwatch for Android phones

Pros
  • Customizable vibration notifications
  • Screen is always "awake"
  • Several hundred apps
Cons
  • Heavy to wear
  • Limited watch-face options

    Bottom line

The Sony Smart Watch 2 (Est. $200) is a solid, conservatively designed smartwatch that serves as a notification device for your Android smartphone. The screen doesn't have a sleep mode, so you can at least always tell the time. You can update your Facebook page and tweet directly from the smartwatch. There are a reasonable number of apps available to download, and the respectable three- to four-day battery life means you can use them without worrying constantly about recharging your smartwatch.

    Compatibility

Android phones only. Any Android device running Android 4.0 or higher is compatible with the Sony Smart Watch 2. Sony, however, emphasizes its smartwatch compatibility with its own Xperia smartphones and tablets.

    Design

Conservative design. Depending on your design sensibilities, the Sony Smart Watch 2 has either a "minimalist-style" or a "relatively uninspired" design. Either way, reviewers agree that the Smart Watch  2's design plays it safe. Its square, digital watch face is surrounded by a silver aluminum band. The silicon straps come in black and four bright colors and the leather straps are available in light brown and black. If you don't like this selection of straps, you can use any industry-standard 24 mm-wide watchband. There are no buttons to mar the sleekness of the design; the touch-sensitive screen has three control buttons on it. Customization of the watch face is limited to just five pre-loaded face designs.

    Durability

Solid. Reviewers report that the Sony Smart Watch 2 feels sturdy and well-made. The Smart Watch 2 is water-resistant to a depth of 3 feet for 30 minutes, so you needn't worry about taking it off in the shower. It's also dust-proof and the screen glass is scratch-resistant. The watch screen is always on and the battery lasts for three to four days. You can charge the smartwatch by plugging it in through a micro USB cord.

    Ease of use

Snug fit, but heavy. Although a relatively small smartwatch, the Sony Smart Watch 2 is one of the heaviest to wear. The watchband has enough holes so that it fits snugly on every size wrist and the three touch-sensitive buttons on the watch face are easy to use. However, some people find the color touch screen itself to be sluggish or even unresponsive when swiping to turn pages. The text on the screen is small but is readable in sunlight; you don't need to activate the backlight to read the display. If you have short nails, you may have problems opening the micro USB port.

    Build

Customizable buzzes. The vibration options of the Sony Smart Watch 2 are customizable: You can specify how many buzzes you want for notifications on an app-basis. The Smart Watch 2 screen is always on (doesn't go to sleep) and also serves as a regular watch with a timer, an alarm and a (dim) flashlight.

    Functionality

Several hundred apps. The Smart Watch 2 is a notification device; it doesn't make or receive calls, though you can do so if you're wearing a Bluetooth headset or are hooked into an in-car phone system. You can check text messages, calendar events, Gmail messages, and Facebook and Twitter notifications. It's not just a one-way pipeline though, as you can like Facebook items and retweet in Twitter without using your phone. There are several hundred apps available for the Smart Watch 2, some designed to take advantage of its high-res display and more basic apps designed for the Smart Watch 1 model. Downloading the Smart Connect app to your phone from Google Play gives you access to all these apps. Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Reviewed!

First Alert CO615

First Alert CO615

Best plug-in carbon monoxide detector

Pros
  • Plugs into any standard outlet
  • Can operate on battery backup
  • Extremely loud horn
  • Seven-year limited warranty
Cons
  • CO level is not continuously displayed
  • Flimsy battery cover

    Bottom Line

The First Alert CO615 is an effective and easy-to-install plug-in carbon monoxide detector. It operates on electricity but will run on battery backup during a power outage. It receives a recommendation from one testing organization and earns high marks from individual owners, although many complain about its flimsy battery cover. Those who don't want to buy batteries should pass on this detector, as it won't operate without them.

    Performance

Safe and effective. Professional testers praise the First Alert CO615, citing its ability to detect high and low carbon monoxide levels, and owners agree. Although this unit is a plug-in model, owners say they feel more secure knowing it will run on backup batteries in the event of a power failure. However, the unit is not designed to run on battery power for long. CO levels are displayed when the indicator button is pressed, disappointing some users who would prefer a continual readout.
Owners praise the detector's few false alarms, but add that nuisance alarms can be silenced with any household remote control. The unit also has an incredibly loud horn, set at 85 decibels within 10 feet, and is destined to wake up even the soundest sleeper. Some of the device's negative feedback stems from misunderstandings about the unit's battery backup; the unit will not operate without batteries in place. Furthermore, there is no bypass option for battery backup use, forcing owners to use the function whether they want to or not. When the batteries run low, the incessant chirping is unnerving, writes an Amazon user.

    Ease Of Use

Installation is a breeze. Most owners say the First Alert CO615 is easy to install, test and use. Its manual has been improved over the years and is now easier to read. This detector comes with a 6-foot extension cord, enabling it to be wall-mounted. It should be placed at least 4 inches from the ceiling and in an area where it's not obstructed. One Viewpoints.com reviewer cautions that owners with inquisitive young children should consider installing the unit out of reach to avoid accidental setoffs.
While the digital display screen is easy to read, it does not continuously display CO levels. To retrieve this info, you must push the indicator button. One Amazon reviewer complains this triggers "a cryptic sequence that frankly looks like it's malfunctioning." However, owners do appreciate the ability to monitor a potentially dangerous situation by pressing the Peak CO memory button, which lets them check the highest CO level recorded. The detector will save these readings until the owner clears the memory.

    Durability

Lasts no more than seven years. The biggest flaw of this First Alert model is its flimsy battery compartment door. Several owners complain that after installing the batteries, the door is difficult to close and must be taped shut. But, the installed AA batteries are not depleted as long as the unit has power. Of note, the detector doesn't operate as well with rechargeable batteries; because they have a lower voltage, the unit considers the batteries discharged before they actually are. The first set of AA batteries is included.
The CO615 is equipped with a seven-year limited warranty, but is designed to last between five and seven years. When its sensors have worn away, users will hear the "end of life" beep every minute until the detector is removed, says a company representative. The date stamped on the back of the device is the manufacture date and will give owners an idea of when the detector should be replaced. Garmin nuvi 3597LMTHD

Garmin nuvi 3597LMTHD

Best car GPS

Pros
  • High-def multi-touch screen
  • Clean, easy-to-read maps
  • Voice commands, with conversational speech
  • Superb magnetic mount
  • Loaded with all of Garmin's most advanced features
Cons
  • Glass screen can glare in the sun

    Bottom line

If you want the best portable car GPS system money can buy (and you're willing to pay for it), the Garmin nuvi 3597LMTHD is the hands-down winner. It's simple, elegant and crammed with every feature Garmin has to offer. It might be overkill for some drivers, though. Less expensive Garmin car GPS systems -- from the step-down Garmin nuvi 2597LMT (Est. $220) to the budget-priced Garmin nuvi 42 (Est. $110) -- navigate just as accurately.

    Performance

Best-in-class navigation. In tests, Garmin GPS systems almost always navigate accurately (more accurately than other brands, some say). Still, GPS technology itself isn't perfect. In Jamie Lendino's test for PCMag.com, the Garmin nuvi 3597LMTHD did lose satellite contact in Manhattan's urban canyons, and it occasionally thought he was in an adjacent lane. But in CNET's test, it locks onto satellites instantly and navigates flawlessly despite San Francisco's tunnels and tall buildings. Its maps make it easier to negotiate tricky interchanges with features (like Active Lane Guidance) that you won't find on cheap GPS systems. The "LM" in the name stands for "lifetime map" updates, so you'll always be able to download the most recent maps.

    Features

Loaded with the latest Garmin frills. The nuvi 3597LMTHD is the only GPS system that includes lifetime HD Digital Traffic, Garmin's top-of-the-line traffic feature (you can get it on other Garmins, but it costs extra). Designed for quicker alerts and better coverage, it works well on New York City's major highways in PCMag.com's test, but "it's still not perfect," missing some congestion on secondary roads and city streets. Other features help you pick the best routes -- even complicated ones. For example, trafficTrends calculates routes based on predicted traffic flow. Auto Sort chooses the most direct route to hit multiple stops. Trip Planner lets you select your own order for multiple stops, set departure and arrival times, and more.

    Ease of use

Pricey extras really make life easier. Here's where you really get what you pay for. The Garmin nuvi 3597LMTHD has the best screen of any car GPS navigator, reviews say -- a 5-inch, dual-orientation, multi-touch glass screen so crisp that it reminds testers of Apple's Retina displays (it can glare in the sun, though). Its elegant powered magnetic mount (no fiddling with a clasp or cord), voice commands, conversation-like directions (e.g., "Turn right at Starbucks," rather than just "Turn right on Elm Street") and intuitive search box (type in "movie theaters," and it shows the nearest ones) really make it easier to navigate, testers say.

    Value

So, is it worth a whopping $350? A basic car GPS system costs about $100. If you have a smartphone, you can navigate for free. So, are the Garmin nuvi 3597LMTHD's luxury features worth the luxury price? Yes, experts say -- if you're a road warrior who wants the smoothest navigation experience possible. But if you don't really need all the extras (or the price just isn't in your budget), you can certainly get an equally accurate GPS navigator for less. Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services like this Visit our Website at http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

TDK Life on Record Wireless Weatherproof Speaker A33

Best outdoor wireless speaker

Pros
  • Good sound
  • Rugged design
  • Easy to transport
  • Speakerphone function
Cons
  • So-so battery life
  • Some problems with streaming

    Bottom line

The TDK Life on Record Wireless Weatherproof Speaker A33 is a portable Bluetooth speaker with a rugged design. It can't match the sound performance of top-rated Bluetooth speakers designed for home use, but what it lacks in sound quality it makes up for in portability and toughness. It also has nice features like a speakerphone function and a USB charging port. Its two biggest flaws are mediocre battery life and occasional problems with Bluetooth streaming.

    Performance

Satisfying sound. Most reviewers are satisfied with but not wowed by the A33's sound quality. The Wirecutter describes it as one of the few ruggedly built speakers that offers decent bass performance, thanks to a 2.5-inch mini "subwoofer" in the back. Other reviewers agree that there's plenty of bass but think that it can be a bit "boomy" and poorly defined. CNET says that while the A33 offers decent clarity and good volume for its size, it lacks the dynamic range to "handle more nuanced/complicated tracks gracefully." Professional reviewers are also unimpressed with the speaker's six-hour battery life, but most users have no complaints about it.

    Ease of use

Not the smoothest streaming. The A33 includes a few nice features. It has a speakerphone function (though some user reviews say the voice quality isn't great) and a USB port for charging phones or tablets -- though the speaker itself must be charged with an AC adapter. Reviewers also find the controls intuitive and easy to use. However, we read mixed reviews about the Bluetooth performance. While all professional reviews, and many user reviews, say Bluetooth pairing is easy, we also saw many complaints from users that the signal abruptly cuts out and the music stops playing.

    Design

Sturdy and splashproof. The main advantage of the A33 is its rugged, water-resistant design. CNET notes that it's only "splashproof," not truly waterproof, but it includes other protective features as well, like a removable rubber door that protects its ports from dust and moisture. There are also rubberized feet on the bottom to keep it from shifting around when played at high volume. At 3 pounds, the A33 is heavier than some waterproof speakers, but it's certainly compact enough to carry to the beach and tough enough to withstand sand and water. Body-Solid EXM-1500S

Best home gym

Pros
  • Excellent value
  • Sturdy construction
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Smooth operation
Cons
  • Limited resistance
  • Somewhat lengthy assembly

    Bottom line

The Body-Solid EXM-1500S draws praise for its solid build and the company's excellent customer service. Users say it's easy to assemble with some prep work, and the pulleys offer smooth, solid operation. Unfortunately, the 160-pound weight stack isn't enough to challenge experienced exercisers.

    Setup

A mid-range assembly time. We found a few complaints that the Body-Solid EXM-1500S can be a real headache to set up, but many more reviewers say it's nothing excessive as long as you take the time to sort all the parts out before you get started. The good news is the assembly instructions are great; the high-quality parts fit together easily, and they even arrive well packaged. Still, judging from user comments, you should plan on four to six hours of assembly time.
One Amazon.com user suggests using two 17-mm ratchets and some larger crescent wrenches for the easiest assembly.

    Performance

Beginner appeal. The Body-Solid EXM-1500S's pulley system is extremely smooth, quiet and easy to use. "No jerking whatsoever," writes one Amazon user. "Using the machine is a dream, it's smooth and silent," confirms another.
The 160-pound weight stack is adequate for beginners, but advanced users will find themselves wishing for more resistance. Also, a few comments from customers hint that taller people might feel cramped. "This machine is NOT for a person who is above average size. When you sit in the seat to do pulldowns there is not a whole lot of room," explains an Amazon reviewer.

    Ownership

Two thumbs up. We found nothing but positive feedback about Body-Solid's customer service -- a refreshing change from the complaints that many other manufacturers receive. "Can't praise them too highly," writes one reviewer at Amazon.com. "It's very easy to get replacement parts if they break or wear out," says another.
Paul Rogers, About.com's guide to weight training, praises the EXM-1500S as a "great, solid mid-range home gym." It also draws praise from TrainerSecrets.com for its build quality, and the lifetime warranty speaks volumes about the manufacturer's confidence in its product. GoPro HD Hero3+ Black Edition

GoPro HD Hero3+ Black Edition

Best action camera

Pros
  • Superior video quality
  • Lots of shooting options
  • Wide variety of mounts
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • So-so battery life
  • May produce blurry distance shots

    Bottom line

Reviewers consistently agree that the GoPro HD Hero3+ Black Edition simply offers the best video performance it's possible to get from an action camera. It's versatile, too, with lots of shooting and mounting options, and its sturdy construction stands up to all sorts of abuse. However, many reviewers add that not every user really needs the best quality money can buy. For casual use, a lower-priced camera will probably offer better value.

    Ease of use

Fully loaded tool kit. One thing reviewers love about the Hero3+ is its wide array of mounting options for everything from surfboards to roll bars. Only two mounts actually come with the camera, however; others are sold as extras. Like most action cams, the Hero3+ doesn't include a viewscreen, but the free GoPro app lets you use your smartphone as a viewfinder. There's also a wireless remote, which has the same menus and buttons found on the camera itself, but CNET says it's a hassle to use for all but the most basic functions; the smartphone app is much more user-friendly.

    Performance

Top-notch video quality. What really sets the Hero3+ Black Edition apart from the competition is its video quality. In a head-to-head test of action cameras at MTBR.com, footage from the Hero3+ Black "is sharper, has great color, and holds subtle detail in the highlights and shadows." Audio quality and still images are also good, though not outstanding. Some users complain that distance shots on the Hero3+ look extremely fuzzy, but this appears to be due to a bug that affects only certain cameras (which GoPro will replace). The Hero3+ Black also offers a huge range of options for resolution, frame rate and field of vision. Its only weak point is its so-so battery life (around 2 hours).

    Design

Small but sturdy. In user reviews, one feature users really like about the Hero3+ is its compact, lightweight form. The plastic housing is also smaller and lighter than that of past versions, yet Paul Davies of The Telegraph describes it as "nigh on indestructible." The same applies to the mounts; TheWirecutter.com's Brent Rose says they're "notoriously tough," standing up to giant waves and even surviving car crashes. The Hero3+ is waterproof up to 131 feet deep. Compared to other action cameras, the Hero3+ is surprisingly boxy in shape, but users don't appear to find that a drawback. It can even be a plus, since it lets the camera stand on its own without a tripod. Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services like this one Visit our Website at   http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

Moving Comfort Fiona Sports Bra

Moving Comfort Fiona

Best sports bra overall

Pros
  • Highly adjustable
  • Available in many sizes
  • Good for high-impact activities
  • Easy to put on
Cons
  • Inadequate nipple coverage
  • Band, straps may irritate skin

    Bottom line

Versatile and supportive, the Moving Comfort Fiona is equally at home in the yoga studio or on the treadmill, reviewers say. Beloved for its cushioned, adjustable straps and closure, the Fiona keeps bounce to a minimum with its compression and lightly molded, seamless cups. But some reviewers find the band or straps irritating, and others say the bra doesn't dim headlights enough for solo wear.

    Comfort

Velcro, chest band irritate some. Made of 88 percent DriLayer polyester and 12 percent Spandex, the Moving Comfort Fiona offers solid moisture-wicking, reviewers say. Seam-free cups reduce the potential for chafing, and few reviewers report problems on that front. The wide straps do not cross or meet in the back as on many sports bras, but are easily adjustable with Velcro closures in the front. A handful of women say the Velcro irritates their skin, however. Some complain the wide chest band can start to twist and curl uncomfortably. The hook-and-eye closure on the back of the bra means wearers don't have to struggle to pull the bra on overhead, which many women appreciate.

    Support

High-impact support for D cups and below. The Moving Comfort Fiona combines compression and encapsulation support. The bra is a favorite for high-impact workouts, including running, aerobics and cross-training. An expert notes that the adjustable straps allow wearers to tighten or loosen the bra as needed, customizing support for every activity. Moving Comfort recommends the Fiona for B to DD cups, and most users agree that it minimizes bounce for large busts. However, some DD-cup reviewers recommend bras with deeper cups to better support each breast. Offered in 29 sizes from 30 B to 44 DD, the Fiona makes it easy to find a comfortable, supportive fit.

    Style

Nipple coverage may be an issue. The Moving Comfort Fiona has a slightly scooped neckline and an open back. Reviewers are divided on the style -- some find it attractive, while others say it's a bit utilitarian-looking, especially compared to bras featuring racerbacks, keyholes and the like. Several women warn that the slightly molded cups don't provide enough coverage to keep their nipples from showing, making the Fiona a less than ideal option for going shirtless. Moving Comfort offers about a half-dozen vibrant colors on its website, but there are several more color options elsewhere on the web, including two-tone designs with contrasting straps or bands.  Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services like this one  Visit our Website at  http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

The Astro3 can't be used while it's being recharged, however, and its battery takes about 10 hours to fill up. Hiking Boots: Reviewed!

Merrell Moab Ventilator

Moab Merrell Ventilator

Best Lightweight Hiking Boots/Shoes

Pros
  • Very lightweight
  • Well ventilated
  • Excellent traction
Cons
  • Flimsy insole
  • Heel padding breaks down
  • Outsole wears relatively fast

    Bottom Line

The lightweight, comfortable Merrell Moab Ventilator is very popular with reviewers who like to take day hikes and short backpacking trips. This shoe's comfort, support and extreme breathability are its biggest selling points. It's also available as a mid-cut boot (*MSRP $100) and a waterproof shoe that's not so breathable (*MSRP $110).

    Fit and Comfort

Runs a half-size small. Comfort and a surprising amount of support are two of the Merrell Moab Ventilator's high points; reviewers say if you want a lightweight shoe that's comfortable right out of the box, this is it. It runs about a half-size small and has a roomy toebox, which leaves a few narrow-footed users cold. However, those with wide feet, bunions or Morton's neuroma are pleased.
That said, even a few owners with narrow feet say they can achieve a decent fit. "When I cinch the laces as tight as possible, they work great," writes one. The laces are a sore point for others because they become untied frequently. Some users solve the problem by replacing the laces as well as the "flimsy" insole. A few scattered complaints about toes jamming against the front of the shoe when hiking downhill appear to be largely due to sizing issues.
The only other downside as far as comfort and fit are concerned is what one Backcountry.com customer describes as "a slight tendency for the tongue gussets to roll and create a pressure point." He says you can avoid this by spreading the tongue gussets as you tie the shoe. Complaints like this are just a drop in the bucket compared to the near-constant praise for the Moab Ventilator's comfort, even on rocky terrain and other hard surfaces.

    Performance

Built to breathe. The Merrell Moab Ventilator's breathability -- thanks to mesh vents spaced around the shoe -- is another major selling point. Countless users say this shoe keeps their normally sweaty feet nice and dry. The vents mean you'll get wet if you step in water, but Chris McNamara of OutdoorGearLab.com reports that the Moab Ventilator dries the fastest of the dozen boots they test. And users say that even when the Ventilator's wet, it doesn't feel squishy underfoot.
In a video review, McNamara points out another drawback to the Merrell's breathability and light construction: Sticks can poke through the upper when hiking in heavy brush. On the upside, Dan A. Nelson writes in The Seattle Times that his testers say the Ventilator's "soft rubber Vibram outsole sticks to nearly any trail surface." Only snow presents problems.
Owners experience great traction on most surfaces, but like many hiking boots/shoes, the Ventilators slip on wet rock. A number of users say on Amazon.com that the only thing keeping these shoes from perfection is their tendency to slip on wet surfaces. Others disagree: "I got caught in a downpour with large hail over a very rocky terrain and the traction over wet rock was amazing," notes one woman at REI.com.

    Durability

Prone to wearing out quickly. Light hiking shoes aren't known for their durability, and the Merrell Moab Ventilator is no different. "The outsole is definitely not durable. Mine was worn almost flat within 4 months of mild to moderate use," says a Backcountry.com poster who reviews the mid-cut boot version. Others make do: "I still wear them, but the tread is worn down pretty thin," says an owner at Moosejaw.com who got five years of use from his Moab Ventilators.
Aside from an outsole that wears quickly, which is the typical trade-off for a soft, grippy tread, the biggest problem seems to be padding just inside the shoe's heel. The good news is that several users say Merrell's customer service is great, and prematurely worn-out shoes are quickly and cheerfully replaced at no cost. A number of wearers point out that if you use your own beefier insoles, the shoes will last much longer.
Of course, some owners enjoy better-than-expected performance. "These shoes have at LEAST 350+ miles of brutal Utah and Washington terrain on them, hiking through rivers, over mountains, (and) across slick rock without fail," says one on REI.com. Infant Car Seats Reviewed!

Chicco KeyFit 30

Chicco KeyFit 30

Best infant car seat

Pros
  • Very easy to install
  • Accommodates smaller babies
  • Good crash-test performance
  • Straps are easy to adjust
Cons
  • Fabric not as breathable as some
  • Small canopy

    Bottom line

Reviewers say there's not much wrong with the Chicco KeyFit 30 -- many parents say the seat is so easy to use that you'll hate every other car seat. The KeyFit's unbelievably simple installation is the main driver behind such praise. Owners also love the smooth-to-adjust harness and solid safety reputation. Of course, there are minor qualms: The canopy is small, and some say the seat's fabric is just too warm on hot days.

    Safety

A solid safety performer. The Chicco KeyFit 30 features energy-absorbing foam for increased side-impact protection, a five-point harness with a chest clip and push-button LATCH connectors. The seat gets high marks in independent crash testing. Parents like that they can safely leave the seat handle in any locked position while driving, including upright, which experts say reduces the chance of car-seat misuse.

    Ease of use

Proper installation can't get much easier. The Chicco KeyFit 30 has earned a reputation as the easiest-to-install infant car seat, which reviewers say is deserved. The seat has a single-strap LATCH adjuster and push-button LATCH connectors that are easier to position than older, hook-style LATCH. Its base easily adjusts to different heights, so parents can obtain a proper angle without bolsters such as towels or pool noodles. The base also has two built-in level indicators that take the guesswork out of whether the seat angle is correct. Seat-belt installation gets more mixed reviews -- some experts say it's easy, but others say the belt lock-offs can slip. Reviewers say the harness adjusts smoothly and the straps resist twisting. The harness must be rethreaded through the back of the seat to adjust the height, but experts say it's a relatively easy process. The KeyFit's handle is simply designed without an S-curve or triangular grip -- some parents love this, while others wish for the opposite. The seat fabric is machine-washable, and reviewers say it's easy to remove. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the seat 4 out of 5 stars for ease of use, reserving mild criticism for incomplete labels and the lack of a no-rethread harness.

    Lifestyle features

Good for tiny babies, but fabric can run hot. The Chicco KeyFit 30 accommodates children from 4 to 30 pounds and up to 30 inches tall, but Chicco says to discontinue use regardless of height if a child's head is less than an inch from the top of the shell. The seats included infant insert and ability to accommodate babies as light as 4 pounds make the KeyFit 30 a good pick for even the smallest babies, reviewers say. The seat is well padded, and parents say they like the stylish colors, but several complain that the fabric doesn't breathe well and causes their babies to sweat on hot days. At just over 9.5 pounds, the seat is comparable or slightly heavier than similar seats, and experts say the big base can hog space in some smaller vehicles. Some reviewers complain the canopy isn't big enough to fully shield their children from the sun.

    Customer service

Standard warranty and expiration. Chicco backs the KeyFit 30 with a limited one-year warranty. The manual is easy to find and download from Chicco's website. Service reviews are limited, but customers report mostly positive experiences. The seat expires six years after its manufacture date. Chicco advises owners to replace the seat after any crash, even if there is no visible damage. Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services like this Visit our Website at   http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

Portable Generators Reviewed!

Generac GP5500

Generac GP5500

Best home portable generator

Pros
  • Very powerful
  • Easy start engine
  • User-friendly design
  • Convenient to maintain
Cons
  • Noisy
  • Complaints about fuel leaks; poor customer support

    Bottom line

The Generac GP5500 can power most appliances and lights in a medium-size home, supplying up to 6,875 watts through four covered outlets and a heavy-duty twist-lock outlet for a 220-volt appliance. Owners say it's easy to use, with a reliable pull-cord starter, fuel gauge and oil dipstick. Engine noise is average for this size of generator, though some say it seems pretty loud. The 7.2-gallon tank runs up to 14 hours, according to professionals.

    Features

Convenient features. The 5,500-watt Generac GP5500 offers peak power of up to 6,875 watts, which is sufficient backup power for most homeowners. The user-friendly design, which includes a fuel shut-off valve and low-oil level shutdown, gets 4.5 stars from Popular Mechanics tester Joseph Truini, partly because it's so easy to maintain. "Look! A dipstick and a large oil-fill opening," Truini says. "Every generator should have them." Popular Mechanics also praises the Generac's "thick vibration dampeners, a heavy frame and a comfortable fold up handle." The CARB-compliant version -- the 5945 -- features four ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) 5-20R outlets to protect against electrocution in wet conditions.

    Performance

Powers an average-sized home. "With ease, it runs my refrigerator, a handful of lights, TV, cable box, modem, space heater and an occasional microwave use," says an owner at HomeDepot.com about the Generac GP5500, noting, "It was averaging 12 hours of run time before needing to be refueled for the 96 straight hours of use before our power came back." This Generac doesn't include an electric start, but users say the GP5500 reliably starts in one or two pulls of the cord. With automatic voltage regulation, the power is smooth enough to safely operate a laptop computer, according to Popular Mechanics, though they note that the GP5500's voltage isn't as steady as some.

    Ease of use

Easy to operate and maintain. Reviews say assembling and learning how to use the Generac GP5500 is pretty straightforward. It "worked flawlessly right out of the box," says one user at ElectricGeneratorsDirect.com. At Generac.com, an owner says with the "ease of operation, efficiency of the engine and simple maintenance, it all adds up to a quality product." In their five-generator comparison test, Popular Mechanics says the GP5500's 85 decibels is just under their average reading. Owners report some durability problems -- most frequently with fuel leaks -- though these aren't consistent issues. Generac includes a two-year limited warranty for consumers, though a few owners have a difficult time with warranty service. Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services like this Visit our Website at    http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

Parental Control Software Reviewed!

Net Nanny

Net Nanny

Best parental control software

Pros
  • Excellent user interface
  • Can set controls for multiple users
  • Social networking and IM monitoring
Cons
  • Time control easily bypassed in multicomputer households
  • No bundles for Macs/PCs or multiple devices

    Bottom Line

Reviewers agree that Net Nanny is very easy to use. In addition to its intuitive interface, Net Nanny is also rated one of the most effective parental control programs -- it analyzes and blocks content in real time and is just as secure from outside threats as it is from kids' tampering.

    Setup and Installation

Subscription, limited bundle options can drive up prices. A darling of critics, Net Nanny (Est. $40) is one of the older parental control programs on the market, so some of its glowing reviews are dated. Still, Net Nanny consistently garners more praise than its competitors for its effectiveness, intuitive design and ease of use. The setup is relatively straightforward; the program (a web-based platform that is managed in a cloud) will start working automatically after a license is purchased. Net Nanny is designed to be as simple as possible for parents, yet sophisticated enough to prevent kids from hacking through its filters. You can customize the program and set up profiles for different users; Net Nanny will guide you through recommended filters and levels of protections based on users' ages.
While the program sells discounted packages for multiple computers (Est. $60 for 3 computers), there aren't any packages covering both PCs and Macs (just one or the other) or that include tablets. This can end up being costly for Mac/PC/tablet households. For example if you've got two PCs and a Mac, you'll need to pay for an individual license for the Mac (Est. $40). Covering your Android tablet will cost an additional $20 per year per device; there is also an iOS app (Est. $5) with limited functionality. A backup CD will also run you an extra $13. Net Nanny's prices are also for annual subscriptions -- so you'll need to pay again in a year to continue receiving protection.

    Features

Customizable remote parent management and alerts. Net Nanny provides effective filtering, blocks peer-to-peer networks and allows customizable remote management that enables parents to access the program via online management -- including receiving hourly, daily or weekly alerts via SMS or email for potentially troublesome websites, web searches, IM and social networking activities. Net Nanny uses dynamic content analysis to scrutinize every page, so if a site is brand new or has changed (such as news sites carrying violent images that day), it will be blocked and permitted again when the content has changed. Profanity will be masked if the page is child-friendly other than a few choice words.
Unlike some parental control software, Net Nanny also blocks content accessed via web proxies or secure HTTPS connections, making it very difficult for enterprising teens to bypass the filter. Video games can also be whitelisted or blacklisted based on their ratings by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. While that's a well-rounded list of qualities, critics say the program's particular strength is its intuitive interface, which is designed with non-tech-savvy parents in mind. In addition to outright blocking programs, the system can issue warnings that are easily accepted or overridden by parents.

    Performance

Warning and blocking functions. Experts say the program holds up well, offering the ability to block or issue warnings for a wide variety of applications including chat, newsgroups, instant messaging, peer-to-peer file sharing and email. Critics are also impressed with how Net Nanny deals with online gaming and social networking sites. A separate product, Net Nanny Social (Est. $20 a year) offers more robust social media monitoring and covers more networks. Reports for parents are detailed and interactive -- in fact, some find Net Nanny's tracking too intrusive.
The program is occasionally too strict, blocking sites unnecessarily. Its password-protected override option makes unwarranted blocks easy to circumvent, however, and parents can customize which sites to ban or to allow their children to access. There's also a loophole in multiple installations, allowing children to circumvent time limits by switching computers. Over- and under-blocking is rare, although NextAdvisor.com says Net Nanny is a bit overzealous at blocking hate-based content. A Mac version of Net Nanny is available, though reviewers say it's not as good as the Mac version of Safe Eyes (Est. $50) , a program that works especially well when a household has both Macs and PCs and includes a license for up to three computers. Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services Like this Visit our Website at   http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com
