Trek Fuel EX 8

Best all-around mountain bike

Pros
  • Good performance on a variety of terrain
  • Women's version available
  • Powerful disc brakes
  • Plush suspension
Cons
  • May not appeal to aggressive riders
  • Tires need more grip
Experts say the Trek Fuel EX 8 is a great all-around mountain bike for riders who tackle a variety of terrain. The aluminum-framed bike has suspension over both the front and rear wheels, and reviewers say nearly 5 inches of travel provide a plush ride that excels at climbing and descending. The Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic disc brakes have powerful stopping power, and the stiff frame makes for responsive and confidence-inspiring handling. Reviewers also rave about the suspension, saying it feels consistent no matter what the terrain. There are a few drawbacks -- one reviewer says the relatively conservative geometry may not appeal to aggressive riders. A few reviewers also report that the tires need more grip to effectively navigate technical turns or muddy trails. The bike comes in five frame sizes; a women's version, the Trek Fuel EX 8 WSD (MSRP: $2,470), is also available. If you frequently ride very rugged trails, the Yeti 575 (MSRP: $3,100) all-mountain bike offers more travel to absorb the impact from rough and rocky terrain.
The best review of the Trek Fuel EX 8 comes from BikeRadar.com, a British site that publishes reviews from a variety of cycling magazines. Bike magazine also has a solid test-based review. Both sources test the latest 2011 model. Mountain Bike Action and Men's Journal examine last year's model. There are also hundreds of user reviews available at MTBR.com and Buzzillions.com, although many of these refer to previous model years. Canon PowerShot SX50 HS

Canon PowerShot SX50 HS

Best extreme zoom digital camera

Pros
  • 50x zoom
  • Very good image quality for its class
  • Full manual controls and a great auto mode
  • RAW support and hot shoe
  • Swiveling LCD screen
Cons
  • Some image flaws, like fringing and over-sharpening

    Bottom line

The 50x-zoom Canon PowerShot SX50 HS is a technical marvel, reviews say: You can extend the lens, snap a photo of something two miles away, close up the camera and toss it into your shoulder bag. And it's not just a pretty zoom. It's got serious enthusiast chops, with full manual controls, RAW file support and a hot shoe to help it beat other 40x-plus digital cameras in reviews.

    Ease of use

"A chunky beast," but generally easy to use. Thanks to its monster zoom, the Canon SX50 hasn't a prayer of being pocket-sized. It's nearly as big and heavy as a compact digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera -- a "chunky beast" that looks like a DSLR but is "far easier to pick up and start shooting with," says Mark Goldstein at PhotographyBlog.com. Beginners can simply point and shoot, while advanced photographers will appreciate the full manual controls. There's even an electronic viewfinder -- a rarity at this price -- but it's not the greatest quality. Experts unanimously prefer framing their shots on the LCD screen. It flips out to the side and rotates, especially handy when you're using a tripod.

    Performance

Surprisingly good -- but not perfect -- photo quality. Super-long zooms usually spell crummy image quality, but the SX50's 12-megapixel photos mostly impress testers. "We got a surprising number of keepers at the 1,200 mm focal length, even when using the camera handheld" thanks to a fantastic image stabilizer, says Goldstein at PhotographyBlog.com. Low light is a weakness, as is usual for ultra-zooms. Grainy image noise pops up around ISO 800 in tests, with some purple and green fringing and over-sharpening (common failings of this class). Speed is respectable, and the SX50 can rattle off rapid-fire bursts at 10 full-resolution frames per second (fps). Video is good quality, in full 1080p HD, and you don't hear the zoom noise on your soundtrack. Battery life is rated at 315 shots per charge.

    Durability

Plastic body seems sturdy, reviews say. Although it's made of plastic, not metal, the Canon SX50 "feels extremely well made," says Daniel Bell at EPhotoZine.com. Christopher Snow at Reviewed.com Cameras finds one build-quality quibble: He wishes the rubber cover over the USB/HDMI/wired remote ports "was a little less flimsy."
Owners at Amazon.com don't report any durability problems. One says the SX50 feels cheaper than his previous Canon ultra-zoom ("They used a plastic which, although lighter, feels and looks cheaper"), but two others disagree, saying the SX50 seems sturdier than their old ultra-zooms.

    Features

Huge 50x zoom, plus features like RAW capture. With its outrageous zoom, the Canon SX50 is "a spy-cam that MI6 would be proud of," says Snow at Reviewed.com Cameras. "This camera doesn't just reach 50x, it flies down to 50x in only two or three seconds." Digital zoom quadruples that; although it degrades image quality, a small 200x-zoom test shot of a faraway clock at EPhotoZine.com looks clear and sharp to the naked eye.
Unlike most ultra-zooms, the SX50 offers two must-have features for enthusiasts: RAW image capture and a hot shoe. Two high-tech helpers prove helpful in tests: DR Correction (to reduce highlight clipping) and a High Dynamic Range feature. However, there's no GPS, Wi-Fi or in-camera panorama. Bitdefender Total Security (2014)

BITDEFENDER Total Security (2014)

Best Internet security software suite

Pros
  • Outstanding malware protection
  • Stuffed with features, including device anti-theft
  • Easy to use
  • Doesn't bog down computers in tests
Cons
  • Installation on infected systems takes some tinkering

    Bottom line

"This suite has it all," says Neil J. Rubenking at PCMag.com, awarding Bitdefender Total Security (2014) its Editors' Choice prize. Bitdefender's top-of-the-line software comes fully loaded with just about every security option you can imagine -- plus unsurpassed malware defense.

    Ease of use

Let Autopilot do the work. All of Bitdefender Total Security's features are easy to use, testers say. Installation is a breeze, unless your system is already infested with malware (PCMag.com tried it, and needed help from tech support). Once it's installed, Bitdefender Total Security will immediately run a scan. From then on, it'll scan on Autopilot by default. In this mode, Bitdefender handles threats intelligently and silently.

    Features

Rare extras like anti-theft and cloud storage. Bitdefender Total Security contains every feature Bitdefender has to offer. You'll find some of them on Bitdefender's less expensive products -- like Safepay for secure online transactions, privacy protection while you're web surfing or on Facebook, and robust parental controls. You'll be able to control your kids' Windows and Android accounts, monitor phone calls, texts and Facebook messages, and more.
Bitdefender offers other features only on Total Security -- and experts say they're really useful. In-cloud data storage (you get 2 GB free) syncs data among your devices. Encrypted vaults store your data securely, and a file shredder deletes data completely. Device anti-theft, rare for a PC suite, lets you locate, remotely lock down or even completely wipe your laptop. Tune-Up goes beyond the usual defrag-and-cleanup, with sophisticated duplicate-file and registry cleanup tools.

    Performance

Award-winning security that won't bog down your computer. Blocking malware, malicious websites, phishing sites -- Bitdefender does an award-winning job in test after test. It won't slow your computer down too much, either, experts say. Bitdefender says its Photon technology learns what's normal for your computer, speeding up scans.
Download.com tests it out: First-time scans average around 20 minutes, but later scans take just two and a half minutes. At PCMag.com, Bitdefender slows bootup and web page loading by 25 percent -- "nothing I'd worry about," tester Neil J. Rubenking says. Oddly, this critics' darling gets mixed marks from users at Download.com. Some love it, while others loathe it, saying it's slow and buggy -- but there are only 20 user reviews posted, not enough to form a definitive verdict. LG LFX31925SW

Best French-door refrigerator

Pros
  • Huge capacity
  • Loaded with features
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Uneven freezer performance
  • Durability complaints
  • Unsatisfactory customer service

    Bottom line

The LG LFX31925SW is the biggest refrigerator covered in our refrigerator report -- a whopping 30.7 cubic feet. Despite its size, it's both efficient and quiet, and it gets good scores for temperature control. It's also loaded with features, from a filtered water dispenser to LED lighting and digital controls. However, the freezer doesn't circulate cold air perfectly, and there are a troubling number of reliability complaints for such an expensive appliance.

    Features

High-end features. The LG LFX31925SW refrigerator has loads of space, both in the fridge and in the freezer. Moreover, LG has maximized the usable space with split, adjustable shelves; a wide deli drawer; and an ice maker tucked inside the door to maximize freezer space. In the freezer, there are three separate tiers to keep food organized. In addition, the LG LFX31925SW has all the features you'd expect on such a high-end appliance, including through-the-door ice and water dispensers, water filtration, touchpad controls, LED lighting, a child lock and an open-door alarm.

    Performance

Mixed results. In professional tests, the LG LFX31925SW fridge gets excellent results for temperature control in the refrigerator section. The crispers are good at holding in moisture, too. However, the freezer is consistently warmer on the bottom than on the top, suggesting poor circulation of cold air. We also found several complaints about reliability in user reviews. The ice maker is the biggest weak spot, but users also report compressor problems and broken shelves, and some describe multiple breakdowns in a short time. Users are also unsatisfied with LG's customer service, which they find rude and slow-moving. On the plus side, owners do agree that this fridge is "whisper quiet."

    Ease of use

A few quirks. Keith Barry of Reviewed.com points out a few peculiarities of the LG LFX31925SW refrigerator. For starters, the digital controls are well labeled, but they only scroll in one direction. Also, the ice maker is mounted flush with the fridge door, which looks sleek, but tends to splash water and ice outside the glass if it's not precisely placed. Users complain about the ice maker as well, saying it produces too little ice and tends to jam. On the plus side, reviewers note that the refrigerator's drawers glide easily and it's easy to clean. Users say the filtered water tastes great, and changing the filter is easy.

    Appearance

Space-age styling. The LG LFX31925SW has a futuristic look, with doors slightly curved at the top, hidden hinges and a water dispenser that blends with the exterior color (white, black or stainless steel). Reviewers say the glossy finish tends to show fingerprints -- not just on the stainless fridge, but on the black as well. "I am constantly wiping it down," complains one user at BestBuy.com. The interior of the refrigerator continues the space-age theme, with bright blue LED lighting. Overall, users love the styling of this fridge and consider it worth a little extra work. The super-fast fat loss workout! Reviewed!

Burn up to 5% of your body fat with just 20 minutes' training a day, five days a week!
Slim down your body as well as your workout time. As little as 15-20 minutes of intensive resistance exercise can help to flatten your belly in 45 days, say researchers from Southern Illinois University. “The first set of an exercise switches on the hormones that control your metabolism, and doing any more than three sets won’t help,” says study author, Erik Kirk. We got John Beall, a former US Marine and personal trainer, to devise a fat-burning technique that has you training for 20 minutes a day, five days a week. “The workouts are made up of bodyweight exercises done circuit-style [without rest between moves] to raise your heart rate," says Beall. Do Giant Set 1 and Giant Set 2 on alternate days.

GIANT SET 1

Warm-up with 2-3mins running. Do each exercise for 45 secs, rest 15 secs, then move to the next exercise. Rest 1 min after you’ve done them all once, then repeat the circuit twice more.

Squats

Glutes, quads, calves, abs
1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
2. Bend your hips and knees. You can stop when your thighs are parallel to the floor. The deeper you go, the more muscles you’ll activate, helping to burn more calories. Rise to the start position.

Lunges

Glutes, quads, calves, abs
1. Stand with your feet roughly hip-width apart.
2. Take a big step forward with your right foot and bend your right knee until your thigh is parallel to the floor and your knee is at 90 degrees. Reverse the motion, stepping back into the starting position. Repeat with your right leg.

Mountain Climber

Abs, glutes, quads, hamstrings
1. Kneel on all fours, your hands in line with, but slightly wider than, your shoulders.
2. Straighten your left leg and lift your right knee toward your chest. You should be on the balls of your feet, like a sprinter in the starting blocks. Now switch leg positions as many times as you can.

Flutter Kicks

Core, quads, glutes, hamstrings
1. Lie flat on your back and put your hands under your glutes.
2. Raise your legs 15cm off the ground and hold. Raise the left leg to 45 degrees while your right leg is stationary, and alternate your legs. “The kicking motion recruits different muscles in your core, challenging it to stay balanced and fry extra calories,” says Beall.

Bicycle Crunches

Core, abs
1. Lie with your feet in the air and knees bent to 90 degrees. Lace your fingers behind your head. Bring your knees into your chest.
2. Straighten your right leg and turn your upper body to the left, bringing the right elbow towards the left knee. Switch sides, pumping your legs back and forth. Giant set 1 done.

GIANT SET 2

Warm-up with 2-3 mins running. Do each exercise for 45 secs, rest 15 secs, then move to the next exercise. Rest 1 min after you’ve done them all once, then repeat the circuit twice more.

Underhand Grip Pull-Ups

Lats, biceps, forearms, abs
1. You’ll need a pull-up bar for this one. Grab it with a shoulder-width underhand grip and hang with your elbows straight. “Adjust your grip if you’re struggling,” says Beall.
2. Bend your elbows to pull your chest to the bar. Peer over the bar for a second, then slowly lower yourself to the start position.

Press-Ups

Shoulders, chest, triceps, abs
1. For a solid chest, stick with the old reliable. Lie face down with your hands shoulder-width apart. Keep your arms straight, but not locked.
2. Bend your elbows to lower yourself to the floor. Then straighten your elbows to push back up to the start.

Chair Dips

Triceps, abs
1. Hold on to the seat behind you. Straighten your legs in front, then prop them up on another chair.
2. Lift yourself off the seat, then bend your elbows to lower your body. Straighten your arms to push yourself back to the start position. “You’ll work the biggest muscles in your arms, burning the maximum number of calories,” says Beall.

Crunch Twists

Core
1. Sit with your legs bent at the knee and raised a few centimetres off the ground.
2. Place your hands together, and reach over and touch the ground on the right side with your elbow. Rotate and touch the ground on the left. "Keep your core tight and your hands together to maximise your results," says Beall.

Wall Sit

Quads, hamstrings, glutes, core
1. Lean against a wall with your legs in front of you. “This keeps your back flat and places the stress on your quads,” says Beall.
2. Slide down until your knees are at about 90 degrees, and hold for 45 secs, keeping the abs contracted. Giant set 2 done. Also for Direct Access to Brand Name Products&Services Like this one Visit our Website at  http://ebuys-onlineproducts-services.weebly.com

What are Electronic Cigarettes?- A Research Summary!

What are electronic cigarettes?
In recent years, the popularity of electronic cigarettes has grown exponentially. Electronic cigarettes simulate smoking by vaporizing a solution that can be puffed, though they don't actually emit smoke. They therefore lack the smell and secondhand smoke associated with tobacco cigarettes, though there are still health risks.

Some important facts about electronic cigarettes:

  • Most electronic cigarettes contain nicotine, which is addictive and can cause health problems.
  • Electronic cigarettes should not be considered an effective smoking-cessation aid, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • Not enough is known about the health implications of electronic cigarettes, the FDA and WHO say. The unknowns include the amount of nicotine that is inhaled when using these products as well as what types of potentially harmful ingredients e-cigarettes might contain.
  • "Known carcinogens and toxic chemicals" were detected in e-cigarettes examined by the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation, Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis (DPA).

Can electronic cigarettes help you quit smoking?

In a survey, three quarters of the104 e-cigarette users surveyed said they had used the device to help themselves quit smoking, according to a report in the October 2011 issue of the International Journal of Clinical Practice.
However, both the FDA and the WHO say electronic cigarettes should be considered an alternative to smoking, not an effective smoking cessation aid. Both organizations say there is not enough information about the health implications of electronic cigarettes to make a call on their use as an aid.
H2:Studies are inconclusive. A 2010 study published in the Journal of Public Health Policy concludes that e-cigarettes show "promise" in helping reduce the number of tobacco-related health conditions and deaths. On the other hand, an undated study conducted by the Center for Global Tobacco Control at the Harvard School of Public Health suggests that smoking e-cigarettes may restrict people's airways faster than a conventional cigarette.
Additionally, there is some concern that flavor options like menthol and strawberry make electronic cigarettes more appealing to minors. As with tobacco cigarettes, the legal age to buy e-cigarettes is at least 18 in the U.S.; some states and localities have raised the legal age to 19. Flavored tobacco cigarettes were, for the most part, banned by the federal government in 2009.
The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provide lists of safe methods to quit smoking. You can also visit a SmokeFree website for more information and guidance.

How do electronic cigarettes work?

Most models of electronic cigarettes are battery powered and consist of a cartridge that holds a liquid and an atomizer, which is the heating unit that vaporizes the liquid. When the user inhales the vapor, an LED lights up at the tip of the e-cigarette to mimic a real cigarette.
The liquid, often called "e-liquid," comes in several options. Some liquids are nicotine-free. Most solutions, however, contain some level of nicotine, which include low (6-9 milligrams of nicotine per milliliter of liquid), midrange (10-17 mg/ml), high (18-22 mg/ml) and extra-high (24-36 mg/ml). These numbers indicate the amount of nicotine in the e-cigarette, not how much is absorbed by the smoker. That data isn't available. Therefore, it's not possible to directly compare the amount of nicotine absorbed when smoking an e-cigarette versus a tobacco cigarette.
Liquids are also available in an array of flavors, such as a traditional menthol flavor or more exotic options like strawberry and pina colada. Some liquids also contain whole tobacco alkaloids (WTA). Each cartridge of liquid is equivalent to about 20 (or one pack) of cigarettes.
These devices are typically powered by rechargeable batteries, but there are some brands that are considered disposable. These last for about 500 puffs) and then can be thrown away. These models are typically less expensive than rechargeable options.
There are also automatic and manual versions of e-cigarettes. Automatic cigarettes emit a puff of vaporized liquid when puffed on. To work a manual e-cigarette, the user must press a small button on the side of the cigarette for a few seconds before inhaling the vapor. Some users prefer the manual versions, saying they deliver a more robust hit. Reviewers also say that the most important factor in any electronic cigarette is the atomizer, which determines how thick the vapor is, and thus how similar the experience is to smoking a tobacco cigarette.
As mentioned previously, there are three main components to an e-cigarette: the battery, atomizer and cartridge. In some electronic cigarettes, all three components are separate. These are called three-piece electronic cigarettes. When users want to change the cartridge (changing/adding liquid), they must dismantle all three pieces, remove the old cartridge, replace it, reassemble the filter and attach it to the main part of the cigarette, which houses the battery. Two-piece cigarettes, on the other hand, combine the atomizer and the cartridge component, making it easier to replace the e-liquid when needed. Because users must employ a new atomizer with each new cartridge, two-piece cigarettes tend to be more expensive. However, users say they tend to prefer them, despite the higher cost, because they are easier to use.

Types of Electronic Cigarettes

Electronic Cigarette Starter Kits
Advantages
  • Rechargeable
  • Wider variety of options than disposable e-cigs
Disadvantages
  • Inconsistent quality
  • Health implications unclear
  • Not a smoking-cessation tool
Most consumers who are looking to switch from traditional tobacco cigarettes to electronic cigarettes opt to purchase an e-cigarette starter kit. Most kits include one or two batteries (electronic cigarette bodies), several e-liquid refills and a charger.
Disposable Electronic Cigarettes
Advantages
  • Relatively inexpensive
  • A better option for first-time users than rechargeable e-cigs
Disadvantages
  • Fewer brands, less variety than rechargeable e-cigs
  • Health implications unclear
  • Not a smoking-cessation tool
There are few differences between electronic cigarette starter kits and disposable electronic cigarettes, beyond packaging and price. These less-expensive, single-use models offer a way to try out electronic cigarettes before investing in a starter kit. Also for Direct Access to Hot Brand Name Products&Services Online!
